Musician Elton John admits to being a proud man who would not accept help.  Drinking and popping pills began as a way for him to overcome shyness.  In the beginning, drinking and drugs relaxed him so he could talk with people.  In time, his drug use led to erratic behavior, irrational anger and isolation.  Many of his close associates begged him to get help.  
Finally, he submitted to quitting drugs and attending a rehab program.  He has been able to regain his life and says he has found peace.  Listen to Elton's words as he discusses his recovery path in a rare interview with David Frost.
